2023 December Newsletter

In the season of Advent, we remember the many years - centuries, really - the people of God waited for the long-prophesied Messiah, who eventually arrived through the birth of Jesus. The word, Advent, in fact, means "coming" or "arrival." It marks the beginning of the liturgical year because it is where the story begins.

During this season, we assume a posture of waiting. We choose to enter the story as it happened for those who came before us: with anticipation, with groaning, with longing, and with hope.

It is no new practice for us to wait in the dark. We, too, live in a world of shadows. We, too, trust in a future victorious day. We, too, cling with a stubborn hope of what God has promised: the return of our coming King. Advent is a time for us to practice the "already but not yet" kind of waiting.

Questions to Ponder

Where do you notice the Spirit stirring in the midst of deep silence and stillness?

How are you being invited to wait with patience and faith for new life to emerge?

Sacred Ordinary Days

Take a picture of yourself doing tree pose in front of a Christmas tree. Everyone who choses to participate will be eligible for a surprise drawing at the end of December. One entry per tree pose picture - so. . . you can submit multiple tree pose pictures in front of several different Christmas trees. You can share them on social media using the hashtag #corewholeness, tagging the picture helps to make sure that we see them - or submit them to me via text message. Let the fun begin!

Inclement Weather

If class is cancelled due to any reason you will be alerted through the Remind App. If you are already getting reminders and/or alerts you will continue to do so. If you haven't received alerts and would like to, please be sure to contact me and we will get you set up. The Remind App is free to download.

30 Days of Communion

On January 1st, 2023 we will begin our 30 days of Communion. Communion is a spiritual exercise that requires physical elements. It is a marrying of the seen with the unseen - your Spirit (unseen) inside your body (seen) connecting with the Father, the Holy Spirit and Jesus who offered his body in the place of sin, death, sickness and disease for the life of the world. (John 6:51)

Each day throughout the month of January you will be given prompts/suggestions on what to give thanks for, who to bless and/or what to remember. These will be suggestions, remembering to be open to the Holy Spirit's leading.

I will have the pre-filled juice and wafer communion cups ready and available for those that are interested. The cost of 30 communion cups will be $15.00. Of course you can use whatever you have at home. However I have found in the past that having the communion cups ready and available made it more convenient.

Sign up by December 21st by texting me at 3302600247 with your name, email, and whether or not you are wanting to purchase the communion cups.
